Points, streaks and your figures
How points are earned, how a streak and its freezes work, what your level means, and what impact and contribution count.
Your profile shows how many posts, yards and points you have, then two tiles: your streak and your level. Tap How points, streaks and levels work under them for the same explanation in the app.
Points
Points are credits for taking part. They are not cash. Each act earns once:
- Post — 20
- Finish a game — 15
- Join a yard — 10
- Sign a petition — 8
- Vote — 5
- Answer a question — 5
- Reply — 4
- React — 1
This week’s points climb your yard’s ladder. The ladder starts over every Monday.
Streak
Do one thing a day and your streak grows. The streak tile on your profile says how many days in a row, or what keeps it going today. Every seventh day in a row banks a freeze, which covers one missed day, so a single day off doesn’t break your streak. On your profile, each freeze you have in hand shows as a small blue disc on the streak tile.
Level
Your level is how the Yard sees you — never a score, never cash. Every act moves it up: a post most, a reaction least. Leaving a yard or muting takes a little back, and a confirmed report against you puts it on hold.
Impact and contribution
- Impact is what other people did with the things you made: reacting, taking part, finishing, replying. Your own acts don’t count, each person counts once on each thing, and a reply only counts after a day.
- Contribution is what you did with things other people made. Only the first few of each kind a day count.
Both start again on the 1st of every month. They are not points and buy nothing. They are no longer on your profile; How points, streaks and levels work still explains them.
Hearing about your points
Points are added up and sent as one summary — at most about once a week, in the evening, Accra time — instead of a message for every vote. A big game win is told straight away.
