Make a game

Make a quiz, a word scramble or another round for your friends or your yard. Pick a time and it starts by itself — or take the controls and run it yourself.

Updated

Anyone can make a game: a live quiz, a race against the clock, a word scramble, a survival room. Set the time, share the link, and the game starts and runs on its own when the time comes.

Steps

  1. Tap the round + and choose Play, or tap Start a game on the games page.
  2. Pick the kind of game: Trivia, Timed Rush, Last Man Standing, Word Scramble, The Knock, Food Poison, Troll War or Sasabonsam.
  3. Fill it in — the questions, the words or the dishes — and set when it starts.
  4. Create it. CommonYard says Your game is ready.
  5. Tap Share link and send it to the people you want playing.

A game goes where the + was pointed when you made it: the whole Yard, or one of your yards.

It starts by itself

At its start time the game starts, and it moves from round to round and question to question until it ends. You don’t need to be there to press anything. If too few people have joined, it waits a quarter of an hour for more, then calls itself off.

Making a game for a yard

  • If you’re the yard’s owner or admin, your game goes up in the yard at once.
  • If you’re a member, it’s sent to the yard’s admins first. It goes up when one of them allows it, and you’re told what they said. If nobody answers before its start time, set a new time to ask again.

Run it yourself

Every game you made is in What you made: tap YOU, then What you made, then Games. Each one says where it stands — Starts itself with its time, Live · runs itself, Waiting for the yard’s admins, or Ended.

  • Tap Take control to run it by hand. It stops running itself; you start it and move it on from its controls, with Open controls.
  • Tap Hand back to put it back on autopilot. It runs itself from there.
  • Edit, Share and Delete are there too. Deleting a game also clears its players, answers and results.
