Also new: Quick things you can do, a gear on the yards you made, and livelier yards first

The card at the top of the posts now lists up to three quick things to do, a yard you made has a gear to Manage yard, Find a yard shows busy yards first, and CommonYard offers to go on your home screen.

A few changes that went live over the last day.

Quick things you can do

The card at the top of the posts on HOME used to show one thing to do. It is now called Quick things you can do and lists up to three: a poll to vote in, a side to take, a petition to sign. Tap a row to go to it. Games are not in it, because Happening now right under it has those.

If you keep a streak, your week shows under the rows. Tap Something else at the bottom to put these rows away for the day.

Further down, the list of what came back to you — a reply, a poll that closed — is now called Updates.

See Get started on CommonYard.

A gear on the yards you made

If you made a yard, its round shape at the top of HOME now wears a small gear on its top right. Tap the gear to go straight to Manage yard. When you are reading that yard, the same gear sits in the top bar, beside Search.

See Run your yard.

Find a yard shows livelier yards first

On Find a yard, the yards with the most going on now come first. Under each name it says what is on — how many posts are open, how many are here now — or when the last post went up, like Last post 3h ago. Small yards that have been quiet for more than two weeks are left off the list, but you can still find them by searching for their name. Yards for over-18s don’t show to members under 18.

See Find and join a yard.

Keep CommonYard on your home screen

If you use CommonYard in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone, it now offers once to go on your home screen, after you first vote, take a side or post. On Android, tap Add to home screen. On iPhone, it shows the three taps: Share, Add to Home Screen, then Add. Tap Not now to skip it.

See Put CommonYard on your home screen.

Also

  • When you finish the replies under a post, the line asking you to start something of your own is now a quiet row, so it doesn’t get in the way of the replies.
  • On GAMES, your own games under Yours show sooner when the page opens.
